How does an evaporator work?

Evaporators are thermodynamic systems, suitable for both cooling and heating applications (using suitable refrigerant). The term evaporator is therefore also used for heat exchangers or fin heat exchangers.

An evaporator works as follows: a medium (e.g. refrigerant, water or fluid) is pumped through a pipe system and heats or cools the air that is blown through the heat exchanger. Through this process, the relevant medium experiences a heat exchange, i.e. it is heated (evaporated), or cooled.
